Alumni magazines often fall into the trap of navel-gazing — focusing on the minutiae of campus life to the exclusion of all else. Working in collaboration with the Scripps Office of Communication and Marketing, I helmed a redesign that instead uses news from the Scripps community as a lens to look outward and engage with the issues of the day. Visually, the new design eschews the “newsletter” feel common to many alumni publications opting instead for an elegant and contemporary editorial look that elevates the content. The result: a new must-read experience for alumnae and all members of the Scripps community.
